Why children and young adults should get vaccinated.

Although it’s rare, anyone can get meningococcal meningitis. That’s because the direct exchange of repository secretions, throat secretions or saliva are enough to spread the disease.

Because children and young adults are among the groups at highest risk of contracting this potentially deadly disease, many states require vaccinations for school and college students.

In most states, we can administer meningitis vaccines to anyone over 18 months old. Most insurance is accepted.

What the CDC recommends.

The majority of meningitis cases among adolescents and young adults are preventable. To help prevent it, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advise the following:
