Flu Diagnosis (ages 10-65)

Common Signs and Symptoms:
  • Rapid development of fever, muscle aches, tiredness, headache
  • Dry, irritating cough, without phlegm
  • Nasal congestion
  • Cough is typically the most noticeable symptom
  • Later sore throat
  • Must present within 48 hours of first symptoms
  • Exposure: Within 48 hours of exposure to someone with known flu/influenza
Referrals:

Patients will be referred to primary care provider if:

  • Temperature over 103 degrees
  • You are having chest discomfort, abdominal pain or severe muscle pain
  • You are immunocompromised, have a history of high blood pressure, kidney disease, neurological problems, or diabetes type 1 or 2
  • For treatment, if less than 10 years old or 65 years old and older
