• Grouped blisters on a red base, usually located on lips or facial area.
• Blisters rupture, leaving erosions that slowly form crusts
• Tenderness, pain, mild numbness, or burning prior to eruption of lesions
• Fever, muscle soreness, tiredness, or swollen lymph nodes

Patient will be referred to primary care provider if:

• Fever over 103
• Have an immunocompromised condition
• Less than 12 years old
